Global Warming Watch: South Florida braces for frost

The fact is, even if we're not totally sure that the earth is getting hotter due to man made green houses gasses, it's just down right stupid to act as if it never could because the consequences are so great - far worse then Y2k. There's no undo button or manual override to the planet, we screw it up and it's game over. Seems like a dumb risk to take.

That is precisely the crux of the matter.

Then lets call it for what we really mean.

A cleaner environment. We can all dig that.

Just quit the bullshit.

If you look at the cycles we are due for an Ice Age. We're also due for the super volcano in Yellowstone to blow

...
Which proves natural solar cycles have nothing to do with cows farting, humans exhaling or CO2 from automobile exhaust.
Obviously natural solar cycles have nothing to do with CO2. The question becomes what is the cause this planetary cool cycle to be late and what if any role does man have to play.

Yeah but that's only Vic & NSW.

They need to cull a few thousand.. Just like bloody London that side.

Wusses. W.A is 39c on a normal summers day. (Perth area) 45c inland EVERY YEAR ( Leonora, Meekatharra etc)

I remember going to school in a demountable classroom (Pre-fab) with NO air-con (shock horror) and sitting on plastic chairs. It was so hot the sweat would lubricate your butt cheeks so they slipped as you walked.

We thought nothing of it.

Remember.. Just like London... If it didn't happen in London then it didn't happen.

Sucks to be me I guess, we're locked in a deep freeze over here. Had a few days of somewhat mild weather, now back to the extreme cold. With any luck the heating of my house will add to the green house effect and warm it up a bit. That or sink Florida into the ocean, as long as one of those happens I'll be happy. :-)

jk of course. ;-)

London having worst snowstorm in 18 years.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090202/ap_ ... in_weather

The British capital ground to a halt on Monday after the worst snowstorm in 18 years caused hundreds of flight cancellations and virtually shut down public transportation.

Shops, schools and courts shut down and long trails of commuters trudged through the streets, looking for scarce taxis or ways to work after more than four inches (10 centimeters) of snow fell overnight.

"We're not in Russia here," said Guy Pitt, a Transport for London spokesman. "We don't have an infrastructure built for constant snow."

Yes I know... I drove to Dover & back last night ( I'm a night trunker trucker)

It was........ Interesting

The problem is that there is now an entire generation that have never driven in snow. Whose driving habits include relying on Abs, Traction control etc. They have absolutely no clue how to drive in snow.

They are unable to grasp that sudden action means sudden problems. They think that reducing speed to a crawl is the cure. Of course it's not.. All that does is prevent trucks from getting a run at the following hill and as a result everybody comes to a standstill.

The new breed of car dont give the driver enough feedback in my opinion.

We had around 1cm of snow yesterday but it's all gone this morning.

Good point C and I agree but sadly, when it does rain in LA the locals are as bad on wet pavement as most southerners are on snow/ice covered pavement.
