Harper Disolves Parliament and Calls For Elections

Actually, I think it's the longest running minority government ever, and it's been over 2 years, close to three I think since the last election.

At any rate, he may actually win, but not because Canadians love Harper. I think Harper will do what he needs to do to scare the Canadian people away from Stephan Dion's "Carbon Tax" policy. As a string Liberal supporter, I have to admit that Dion is most likely to get demolished on this issue alone - no one wants to talk about taxes at election time. Ever. Unless the word "cut" comes right after it. The fact that Dion claims that this is only a tax "shift" and not a raise, people really don't like paying taxes at all, so I can't see anyone getting excited about it. I mean really, if you're getting f#ck*d up the ass, does it matter what color the condom is?

So I suspect that Harper will win everywhere except Ontario. This means Harper will win, but he may not get a majority. However, if Quebec's Bloc continue their downward trend, he may in fact not need Ontario for a majority, so you never know. Stephan Dion will have to do some clever campaigning and even dip into Jean Chretien's bag of dirty tricks to pull off a victory here.

Here's to Harper's plane crashing into the Alberta Rockies! :pint:

We were just driving 'home' there and as we got out of the car a local politician was doing the rounds, Grant Something-or-other. Said he'd fallen out with Harper ('We didn't get along') and been kicked out of the party but was a liberal and was standing anyway, or something?

Ring any bells with any of you guys?

My relatives aren't about right now or I'd ask them the deal.

Hmmm... Maybe if you got his last name we could narrow it down. Go back and check. ;-)

EDIT: Sorry, since I got my PS3 - MetalGearSolid4 edition this weekend, I just haven't had any spare time to keep up on the news. Maybe "Grant" is someone important, but I'm so out of the loop right now, I'm more concerned with figuring out how to keep my body cammo suite over 70%. ;-)

My bad - it wasn't Grant it was Garth. Garth Turner apparently.
Seemed like a nice enough bloke but I only spoke to him for about 2.4 seconds. :-)
