If you're Republican

Actually I don't see how I helped / proved your point C. Are you advocating open borders? I just want immigrants to follow the law... Period. Sure, laws today are far more restrictive and cumbersome then they were in the past but they are the law. You go through the process and you have my full support. You skirt the process and I have no sympathy. How is this a difficult concept? Want the immigration laws changed? There is a process for that... ;-)
of course I want a process.

my grandparents had to pass a test, they had to speak English (very easy for my Grandfather, actually, because he was brilliant in languages and naturally spoke about six when he came to America. And, yes, one of them was English).

When my mother became a teacher one of the many jobs she had was to teach English to foreigners trying to become American citizens. (She also can speak many languages. This polygonal talent, however, has never been passed on to me).

The problem happens when you have a child that was brought to America, they attended school here, basically became Americanized because they grew up here but because their parents were 'illegal', the former child- now adult (possibly in college) is in limbo.
I want that potential American worker to have the chance to stay here and contribute to society because we have already paid for their education.

I'm not saying there is an easy solution, but to treat people who came here as kids without choosing to and turn them into criminals seems stupid

can't we do better than that?

Now see? We aren't so far apart on this. Your grandparents and my mother had to go through the same process. I see nothing wrong with that. I also agree that a child born/raised here should have an opportunity. I am weary of so called "anchor babies" but am willing to discuss even them. Sounds like the system needs review and revision. Where I become concerned is blanket "amnesty" or auto acceptance. Sheesh, at least register, pay a fee / fine and then do the process our elders had to do.

what I object to is the stupid attitude that people coming to America are just a bunch of bums.

as if they don't make sacrifices to get here......the problem isn't THEM. it's the system they further enslaves them

When I was in Los Angeles i saw lots of people who were obviously from Mexico. And every other month the news would report the police had cracked down on a house where immigrants had been working (as slaves, essentially) , locked in, prevented from leaving. The reason they didn't report this is because they would have been deported.

So they are treated like slaves by selfish businessmen who only want to use humans as their own private servants. Profit over people.

These people were not lazy. I saw them everyday in the bus going to a job. I saw them waiting on corners to get picked up in trucks to go off to a job.......

Why is the government is cahoots with these scum businessmen to make slaves of these people?
