Lockerbie 'bomber' to be transferred to Libya?

A spokesman for the prime minister said a deal covering Libyan prisoner exchange was reached between the PM and the Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi.

However, the spokesman added that no agreement had been reached over the future of al-Megrahi because he is the subject of a legal review.

When asked if after that review al-Megrahi could be returned to serve his sentence in Libya, the spokesman would not be drawn.

I think it's fairly well accepted in intelligence circles that it wasn't Libya behind this bombing. There was good reason to suspect the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine but it was decided that it was more politically pragmatic to demonize Libya as they were currently considered enemies.

(just an interesting aside on the PFLP is that Israel's Shin Bet may have been in cahoots with the PFLP abetting them in the Entebbe hijacking)

Khadafy had nationalized the oil industry in 1973, kicking out major foreign oil companies. (This is the same crime that Chavez is guilty of and is taken extremely seriously).

However, Khadafy is now our friend again, so it's time to send the "political hostage" home again. Why now?
