McCain's VP choice

They also don't have priests or preachers, they have apostles they follow whom they believe communicate directly with God, in a literal way.

Just like Mr. George W. "I talk to GOD" Bush. :roll:

Mormon = borderline cult
(Jehovah Witness = borderline cult too)

Would I vote for a Mormon? Good question, I doubt it. Would I vote for a Muslim? Not likely for similar reasons.

All religions are cults but you obviously can't see this. If you think Catholicism is any less stark, raving bonkers than those above I have an L. Ron Hubbard book you should read. ;-)

I'm with Dawkins on this; the sooner *all* religious people, of *all* faiths realise they *all* believe in a bunch of hocus-pocus, mumbo-jumbo, transparently-fake BOLLOX, the better!

I was personally hoping for Romney as I believe that would have been the wisest and most benificial VP candiate for McCain but hey... I'm just one voter.
Early on voters were polling about 30% stating they'd never vote for a Mormon. In addition, the Christian Evengelican wing of the Republican Party still has significant pull. They'd not run a Mormon as that'd be (in their eyes) anti-Christian.

:roll:
Sectarianism sucks.
Actually, religion sucks. I have to admit though, I do get a kick out of Catholics who call Mormons cultists. Btw, doesn't the Catholic Pope claim to speak for god himself? Crazy stuff isn't it?

Personally, I struggle to understand how anyone capable of thought can be anything other than Agnostic or Atheist but just because someone believes in an absurdly preposterous faerie story, wouldn't stop me voting for them.
Really? I'm as eager to vote for someone who believes in fictional fairy tales as someone who's been locked in a rubber room for 30 years. Personally, I'd prefer someone who's capable of free thought and can demonstrate it. A brainwashed religious nut doesn't fit that category.

Strange question.
I take it you would only vote for the same sect of the same religion as yourself? Or are protestants OK? Jews? JW's? Muslims? Sikhs? Hindus? Buddhists? Agnostics? Atheists?

What religon am I? I have no problem with most organised religons, what I have a problem with is cults or if you dont like that term, say Religons that fall outside the laws of our country. Unlike the mob here, I believe religon is a deeply personal experience and should be respected as long as it does not harm other people. Mormons (LDS) and JW harm those around them.
