Yea nice to know that our right wing liberal authorities knows what's best for us. Taking this liberty away is such a generous handout to 'the blacks' who had a hard time finding jobs and get arrested for no reasons, or worse...

Slavery legacy is an excuse for people to consider themselves being entitled to whatever. If people really were concerned about slavery, they'd protest against companies that make use of slavery NOWADAYS, like H&M and Primark."Linda Nooitmeer, who chairs the National Institute for the Study of Dutch Slavery and its Legacy, said Rutte’s comments were important in a country that had difficulty in acknowledging racism."

Black Pete doesn't have anything to do with slavery or blackfaces of whatsoever, the African Black Pete is just a change they made in the 19th century to make Black Pete not as demonical as it was (it was more like Krampus). This whole discussion is started by people who want to dictate what can and can't be done. Discrimination is a thing here in the Netherlands, yes, and it's being denied more often than not, but I fear this whole Black Pete discussion makes this situation A LOT worse, and just because some people want to leave their mark on this country.
