It's not the cult of personality that's at issue, it's acting like a total knob. If it was a substantive criticism we could talk about it, but it's just drively brainless faux pants wetting hissy fit. People aren't sticking up for Obama, they are making fun of your pettiness. It's just another politician putting on the flag like all the rest of them have done. This one happens to be quite visually appealing and has a bit of pizazz - probably got some Madison Avenue muscle behind it but that's the way the campaigns go. No-one cares. The one with the Obama flag is cooler. That was my point. Show people the original picture without context and and more than 50% of people won't be able to tell you where or what it is. Give it two more weeks and it will be 90% of people. But the Obama flag has staying power. It's iconic, another great bit of branding. Obama's last campaign won a marketing award - looks like he's going for another one.

I do agree obama's flag design is quite attractive. And I am saying this as a professional artist. Not because it's a design made for Obama.

romney's design is ok but it's rather bland.

I don't get the cult of political figures either. I certainly don't kiss Obama's ring. He's a mediocre choice. I wish we could have a real liberal for once as an option. Mitt's just a bad option. So it's Obama for me this year.

And as for usage of flags people are just crazy. Remember the Bush Era must wear a flag pin on your lapel if you're 'a real american' WTF. And even this thread is dumb. Seriously the right wing can't think of a better criticism? No wonder Mitt even loses with Fox polls.

Be honest with yourself, if this was Romney on a flag you dems would be frothing at the mouth. Also be honest that this is not a single incident. Obama is following in the footsteps of all the great communist dictators before him.

I'm no fan of Obama but if him (allegedly) having eaten the same food as millions of other people is something you deem a worthy criticism, people will rightly find that criticism pathetic, petty and of no consequence other than to paint the person making the criticism as equally pathetic and petty.
The same goes for this flag nonsense. Utterly pathetic and beyond parody.
