Surprised there's no thread on this yet.

I just watched an amazing women's triathlon finish with a dead heat.

-EDIT-

It was a photo finish but they've now (about a minute later) split them into Gold and Silver.

I generally enjoy watching Gymnastics and swimming....been trying to catch up online

I heard something about a nipple. Otherwise I've managed to avoid most of it (except the news that hospitality businesses in London like cabs and restaurants have seen their business drop - and there are brand enforcers roaming about preventing people from using words and symbols that have had rights sold to large sponsors - apparently you can't offer "french fries" among other ridiculous restrictions).

I hope one day the Olympics will be an amateur sporting event but even then I don't know that I'll be much interested.

Was watching the trampoline today - superb.
Ping Pong the other day was outstanding as well.
Fitbaw on just now.

Strange thing about the football is that I have no desire to see the British men's team win but I wanted the ladies to do well. Unfortunately the ladies were knocked out and it's the men on now Vs South Korea.

Really? Bugger, I missed that.
Was it a "wardrobe malfunction" or an injury? Was it male or female? Human or animal?

Happened at the last one too and the World cup two years ago. Sad but not surprising.

I don't know why but I always find it quite compelling, especially some of the more obscure games.

I admire the unrelenting ambition....can you imagine the sacrifices this girl has made all her life? not to mention her mother who had to let gabby move several States away to get her training and still figure out how to afford it all.

I see a double leg amputee has qualified for the men's 400m semi final. Incredible and throws up some interesting questions regarding future body modifications.

Drugs; no: mechanical parts; yes.

I think a separate "drugs and body modifications allowed" olympics would make for a great spectator sport (albeit of dubious ethics):
"Let's see how fast these freaks can go now...."

woke up to watch mens fencing... its been a real nailbiter... :) cant afford to spend ten grand to see michael phelps live anyway so im glad its being broadcast into my house... 3 pts from advancing to the finals...

Just watched a women's boxing bout. Never seen a real one before.

Just switched over to the women's cycling "omnium," half way through.

I genuinely have no idea what is going on with this event.

-EDIT-

It's just finished and they described it as "perhaps the most confusing event in the olympics."

That's a relief - I don't feel quite so stupid now.

A very interesting boxing match
The referee, Ishanguly Meretnyyazov, is from Turkmenistan

The winning boxer (blue trunks) Magomed Abdulhamidov, is from Azerbaijan
The losing boxer (red trunks) Satoshi Shimizuis from Japan

the judges scored this round 10-10. The original round score was 10-8 in favor of Abdulhamidov, but the judges penalized Abdulhamidov two points for propping himself up against the top rope as the referee raised his hand in victory.

Anytime a boxer hits the ground, a count is supposed to be levied. Not once during the six drops to the canvas did the referee issue a count. Instead, the ref implored the boxer to stand up and fight. According to AIBA rules, the referee should have administered at least three standing counts in that round. Abdulhamidov could barely stand, yet he somehow won the round. Abdulhamidov won the match on a score of 22-17
