Fauci fans are - it takes the heat off of how US research money was being spent in China. The whole thing still smells though and this study is not a slam dunk.

Weird SARS-CoV-2 outbreak in mink suggests hidden source of virus in the wild

The lineage had not been seen in the area for over two years.

Minks are seen at a farm in Gjol, northern Denmark, on October 9, 2020.

Between September to January of this year, mink in three Polish farms tested positive for the pandemic coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2— presenting a concerning mystery as to how the animals became infected.

SARS-CoV-2 infections in mink aren't particularly noteworthy or concerning on their own; it's well established that mink are susceptible to the virus. The realization early in the pandemic resulted in extensive culls in Denmark and the Netherlands during 2020 and led to intensive monitoring and regulation of remaining mink herds in many places, including Poland.

But the recent cases in Polish mink, reported this week in the journal Eurosurveillance, are unusual. While previous mink outbreaks have linked to infected farmworkers and local circulation of the virus—indicating human-to-mink spread—none of the farm workers or families in the recently affected farms tested positive for the virus. In fact, health investigators found that the infected mink carried a strain of SARS-CoV-2 that has not been seen in humans in the region in more than two years (B.1.1.307).

The finding suggests that humans were not responsible for infecting the mink—at least not directly. Rather, it suggests that another unknown species may have been stealthily harboring and spreading the otherwise bygone strain for some time and managed to carry it onto the mink farms.

Such bad luck. Looks like a bunch of Wuhan Intitute of Virology gain of function researchers were among the first people to contract this virus. Maybe they were picked it up from Raccoon Dogs at the wet market while on a lunch break.

"Next week, the Directorate of National Intelligence is expected to release previously classified material, which may include the names of the three WIV scientists who were the likely among the first to be sickened by SARS-CoV-2. A bill signed by President Biden earlier this year specifically called for the release of the names and roles of the sick researchers at the WIV...."

Interesting development but holy-moly, the writing style for much of that Tweet is a case study in how to make your claims appear dubious:

"strong new evidence has emerged...."
"Sources within the US government say..."
"When a source was asked..."
"Sources tell Public and Racket.."
"... an anonymous U.S. State Department investigator..."

there's about 65 million people worldwide suffering from long covid (16 million at least in the US, BTW).

It's going to take some time and effort to figure out a solution, explanation, treatment, whatever.

And this is ONE situation with no real explanation...BUT it may point in a direction to look:

Did the JEV vaccine really help me to recover from Long COVID, or was it just a quirk of timing in a recovery that I might have made anyway? I can’t make any causal claims about this from a single case study. But after reading a great deal of additional medical literature, I’ve come to believe that the vaccine may have helped my body clear viral reservoirs of SARS-CoV-2 which were likely contributing to my Long COVID fatigue (Choutka et al. 2022, Davis et al. 2022).

This article is a year old. How is she doing today?

I'm glad it worked out for her. Here's hoping it leads to studies, evidence and help for the other 65 million.

Hopefully leads to concrete results. I have a friend who is still not fully back to normal 4 years later.

a very serious review of Long Covid.

Even a mild or asymptomatic infection can harm the immune system. It can make you susceptible to new diseases that might not have bothered you before, but now, with your weakened immune system, these new diseases can find a foothold and attack you.

getting a COVID infection can double your risk of heart attack, increase the risk of stroke by three times, and double the risk of diabetes. All these things happen as a result of your COVID infection, and they persist for as much as two years, even if you had a mild or even an asymptomatic infection.

LP: Most people don’t seem to realize that half of COVID cases are thought to be asymptomatic. So if I’ve had the virus – and I may not even know it because I didn’t have so much as a sniffle. Yet I still may have future health consequences, even years later. That’s pretty sobering.

PA: That’s right. And the scary thing is that now this is not a speculative thing. We know that the virus attacks and kills the neurons in the brain any time you are infected. We can measure the shrinkage of your brain matter. Even an asymptomatic case of COVID can result in IQ points lost.

fresh air is king. Wherever you are, open the windows. Open the doors. Advocate for improved air quality standards. The most important place to do this is the schools. I’ll give you a couple of interesting stats. Of the pandemic infections that drove the spread of COVID, I believe the statistics show that around 80% of transmissions occurred at what we term “super-spreader events.” This means that one highly infected person can enter a room, saturate the air with the virus, and infect a lot of people. That’s 80% of the transmission of the whole pandemic. Of that 80%, 70% of it happened in schools. Most of that was in schools that had poor ventilation. And it’s entirely fixable.

LP: What’s the cost of a device for measuring CO2? Is there an easily affordable device?

PA: Absolutely. You can get a $50 device that shows the CO2 concentration in a room. Every classroom should have this, and every office, every workplace. There are a couple of other things they should be doing, too. They can augment it with filtration with MERV 13 filters. If you can’t do it in the building’s HVAC infrastructure, you can make portable ones for about $60 [See Corsi Rosenthal Boxes]. The other thing that is super important and super powerful, probably the best thing we could do, is what are called germicidal UV lamps. If you set those up in a room, it’s equivalent to about 24 air exchanges per hour. So they’re even better than ventilation and filtering.

I should point out that there are, in fact, places that have installed all of these: fresh air, filtering, and germicidal UV lights. Do you know where they are?

LP: Where?

PA: The White House, Congress, Number 10 Downing, Parliament, the Reichstag, and WHO. All of our leaders have these protections and procedures in place.

LP: But not our schoolchildren.

PA: Well, the school where [former CDC director] Rochelle Walensky’s children go, they have these upgrades.

Chiefs BJ Thompson Remains Unconscious but Stable After Suffering Seizure, Cardiac Arrest

Chiefs defensive lineman BJ Thompson remains in unconscious but stable condition, after suffering a seizure and cardiac arrest during a team meeting on Thursday.

Chris Turnage, Thompson’s agent, updated his client’s condition to NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero.

“BJ is still unconscious at this point, but he’s stable, and vitals are good,” Turnage said late Thursday night. “His family asks for your continued prayers.”

The second-year player out of Stephen F. Austin was attending a special teams meeting on the final day of OTAs when the incident occurred. Team medical staff immediately tended to Thompson. He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, where he remains.

The Chiefs canceled all remaining team activities after the incident.
“Let me say this before I say anything. I’m thinking about BJ right now,” said Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. “It was scary. I think the guys were a little bit scared, I know I was. But a lot of praying and [head athletic trainer] Rick [Burkholder] and his staff did a terrific job.”

Thompson, 25, is a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He appeared in one game for the Chiefs last season.

Have you seen left leaning friends suddenly flip to anti-vax after premature deaths of young friends? I just saw a far left leaning friend post about losing someone close and the replying on FB by other friends of theirs having the same story. They also just recently lost someone young. The common theme is they blame the coof jab. The friend I am talking about I won't give any descriptive info on as some here may remember this person from AO days. This person and most in their circle of friends are very far left antifa sympathizer types, many pro communism. The friend is a bit more nuanced, but the circle of friends are generally not. Many were previously Fauci Sauce enthusiasts. One flipped to anti-vax and became alienated by a close friend for doing so. That close friend died shortly thereafter.

The number of people dropping dead all at once is pretty staggering. The elderly among them can obviously be attributed to age. The middle age and younger, not so much, especially when they all have the same core cause of death...

Refused Cancel Swedish Festival Gig After Singer Dennis Lyxzén Suffers ‘Massive' Heart Attack: ‘Really Shook Up'

Beloved Swedish punk rockers Refused had to cancel their gig at Stockholm's Rosendal Garden Party festival this weekend after singer Dennis Lyxzén revealed that he'd suffered a heart attack. The show, which was hyped as the band's final festival gig in Sweden, was scotched after Lyxzén was hospitalized and told to rest by doctors.

"So this morning I had a massive heart attack at my hotel room. It's was extremely painful and wildly scary," the singer said on Thursday (June 13) alongside a photo of him in the hospital hooked up to a raft of medical devices. "Thanks the the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Uppsala hospital I'm still around to fight another day. Under the circumstances I feel ok. Sore and tired and really shook up."

In addition to their festival swan song, the gig would also have been the Refused's first show in four years after the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to cancel their 2020 North American tour after a March 9 gig in Los Angeles.

He's 51.

What's the angle here? Is there a vaccine connection? Plenty of people by that age have heart attacks. One of my best friends died of a heart attack in his 40s a few years back. My sister's partner had a heart attack at 49 too.

yeah, there's these funny statistics:

leading causes of death in the United States in 2021:
  • Heart disease: 695,547 deaths
  • Cancer: 605,213 deaths
  • COVID-19: 416,893 deaths
  • Accidents (unintentional injuries): 224,935 deaths
  • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 162,890 deaths
  • Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 142,342 deaths
  • Alzheimer's disease: 119,399 deaths
  • Diabetes: 103,294 deaths
  • Chronic liver disease and cirrhosis: 56,585 deaths
