What? Obama isn't BEFORE God???? Gosh. I guess he just doesn't have enough religious faith in Obama. For shame, for shame. Honestly ... putting God first. Sheesh.

He's a Canadian, with misguided priorities.

Under Reagan the economy boomed, ...
See if you can find the Reagan boom on this chart.
The USA went from the world's largest lender in the 70s to the world's largest borrower in the 80s. Clearly any boom came with a cost that we're still living with 30 years later. Republicans claim to want smaller government but Reagan tipled debt. Bush II increased the debt by more than Reagan but only doubled the due to the already huge size of the debt. Post war debt tripled in 31 years. Reagan tripled it again in 8. This was sound fiscal policy? Reagan built the train tracks pointing off the cliff. Bush II took the challenge to see how fast he could drive the train off the cliff.

Kirk,

Ignoring the obviously intentional racially slanderous overtone of the subject "Obama is a mix", I do have to wonder whether perhaps you've wandered through the looking glass and haven't quite found your way around here.

See, this is very much like life behind the looking glass where everyone here is pretty much an expert in their facts and opinions (except me, who has the privilege of making s*** up as I go along, even though *I* get called on it all the time).

The intentional trolling of most of your more serious posts aside (which is Internet forum faux pax btw to post something intentionally to aggravate others), most of the people you'll meet on this forum are highly intelligent and highly versed on the subjects. Most get no greater kick than debating the issues with their equals, even if none of us will ever agree on any given subject.

It's almost like family where we've long-since found each others buttons and get along famously.

That isn't to say this is a closed off club or anything. Just an invitation to research your points a little more thoroughly so you'll feel less insulted and defensive when these political animals flay the meat from your bones with medical precision every time you stick your foot in your mouth.

When you jump in with your opinion, you need to be prepared enough to either "bring it" where facts are concerned (in an adult manner) or be prepared to be open-minded enough to change your opinion when a more rational fact-based opinion is offered. Emotionally based opinion rants -- even mine -- are often laughed at here and closed minds here are basically pointless.

After all, the name of the site being "whyzzat" means to invoke "question everything". If you have an opinion, that denotes the ability to change. If you're stating your opinions as fact and unable to back it up, you've volunteered to be the main course at dinner.

It isn't as though we don't appreciate the comic diversion of the constant one-liner trek jokes either. It's simply that you need new material before you're written off as a one-trick puppy. :)

Wayne, your response is far too erudite and humane :)

On the other hand ... "Obama is a mix..." you're right. That IS terribly cheeky - I'd completely read past the implications behind that. Good thing I'm not an editor of editorial cartoons if I don't notice that kind of thing. I thought the dead monkey cartoon was pretty funny - but what a fuss it caused.

His post clearly referred to ideology and actions.

I still don't quite get the outrage on that one. I mean, wouldn't Pelosi be the dead monkey? Obama didn't write the thing, Pelosi did! Is Sharpton really that stupid?

I could see how someone could read the term as Wayne did. Personally I'm with Metalman as I read the comment as actions. Of course later on Kirk posted 'You have the logic of a woman' a much clearer stereotype/discriminatory phrase.

True. His SUBJECT however, could be easily misconstrued considering the president's familial ties. I hate political correctness more than anyone else here save C, but even that was painfully obvious.

It's a manufactured outrage built on a hotbutton issue. That's why editors have to be careful. Something that should give no offense can be re-read and used to incite protest. Here we have an issue that someone grabs by the wrong end just to demonstrate their ability to move a mob and therefore remind others that he wields power (can bring large numbers of people to act together). It's the same thing that the far right churches like to do too. Pick a hotbutton and pound on it remind the politicians just how many people they control.

Accidentally wandering anywhere near a hotbutton simply hands these "leaders" an opportunity to consolidate power and simultaneously demonstrate it. Of course, if people used a bit more of their critical thinking skills and were generally better informed, much of this nonsense wouldn't work.

President Bush was referred to by the Huffpo crowd as"Chimpy McBushitler," "Chimpus Khan," "Curious George," and so on with pictures and cartoons, Now if anyone draws a chimpanzee in a political cartoon, it must be a representation of Primate in Chief Obama, a RACIST OUTRAGE!.

It’s been done, with no outrage for 8 years, just accepted as political humor.

Well, let the political humor continue ....

The 1,100 page Porkulous Bill was written by Pelosi's Congressional aides (chimps) which NOBODY could read before it was voted on.

I think the issue here is the situation. On one hand we have Bush with features that seem to work best in a monkey. On the other hand we have a half black president where chimps have been used as racial stereotypes for centuries. Many view this as an unacceptable racist tradition.

Isn't it more offensive to have the cops assainate the president in the image?

I also thought the cartoon was pretty funny. Too bad the PC crowd got so irritated (when do they not). Until someone "told me what to think" I hadn't even begun to make the association that some were claiming.

PS: We now return you to your previously scheduled topic.

I understand the point (that I think) you are trying to make but for me it is a real stretch to read into the cartoon such (political / social) non-sense. In this case I really think that Metalman is on the mark. As I posted previously, I never made the connection between the chimp and Obama until "I was told" what to think (by Sharpton and the press).

I guess we will simply have to abolish all forms of humor and wait for the PC police to tell us what we can smile at... at the appropriate time, place and with the appropriate crowd.

anyone who takes their cues from Sharpton - for ANY issue - has problems
