Uh, wrong. Maddow is vulgar, not civil. During the week of the Tea Parties, Maddow and fellow host Keith Olberman sneered at Republicans, in a way that was crude and uncivil. Below is a video of Maddow saying the Tea Party movement is about "tea bagging," which is an obscure homosexual practice. According to one account, Maddow used the term “tea bagging” in this clip 63 times. She means the term as a vulgar insult to the decent people who took to the streets to protest out-of-control spending (99% of whom, I'm sure, had never heard of the sexual act that Maddow is "joking" about). Red do you mean like the Republican Tea Partier Roy Ashburn who was caught drunk driving after leaving a gay bar?

Red your post doesn't disprove anything in the current poll it simply tries to call the Dems bad names. If the readers here go to the '63 Tea Bag' link they'll see this is an article from 2 years ago. It's about sending Tea Bags. Not so surprisingly the group now called the Tea Party called themselves the Tea Baggers first. It was with post, such as Maddow, when the group figured out 'oh shit we better rename ourselves quickly'. As such the Maddow article was mocking the group with their own mistake.

Shouldn't those two events alone put him in protected category by liberals? Of course, the Tea Party is about taxation and not social issues, but that is something the left rather paper over to make all sorts of social charges against the Tea Party. Like you are doing now.

True, they were using the original Boston Tea Party event as initial signal that they were Taxed Enough Already. That's a huge jump from reminding the Washington elites of the colony tax rebellion that started the creation of the US to (mostly gay reference) sex acts.

There is no scapegoating the Hispanic by the GOP. There is indeed a massive illegal alien problem and can only be solved by securing the boarders and enforcing current US laws. Yes, there needs to be a better and faster way for people to legally come to the US, there is no doubt about that issue. Hispanics, OTOH, are deeply religious and have far more conservative social views as a whole and would not tolerate the far left practices of the Democrat Party. If the Hispanic population does vote for Democrat Party in lock step as does the Jewish and Black communities, this will be a perk as they will drive the Democrat Party back to center by their shear numbers with in the Democrat Party with their shared conservative social values. Now what will Black special interest groups demand within the Democrat Party will be of interest as their own power diminishes with all these new Hispanic members taking their rightful political power.

Unfortunately, not true here the local Tea Party indeed has a social bent.

I don't see the huge jump because the group started out by calling themeselves Tea Baggers. Now true it was in reference to the Tea Bags they mailed about against taxation. They simply didn't realize that 5 minutes at Urban Dictionary might have been worth the effort.

@Metalman - again you break down into personal ad hominems. I see the tactics quite prominent in the conservative ranks. When logic fails, evidence fails, then all that is left is name calling. It was a lie when you first said it, it remains a lie now. The tea party has had a strong social conservative streak from the start, which is unsurprising given the makeup of the group.

I watched Richard Trumka's introduction to Obama's labor day speech, so :finger:, "New civility!"

Progressive 'arguments' are mainly just name calling, numerous examples at the DailyKos, Democratic Underground, ... :rolleyes:, that is where you get your talking points, so your very familiar with it. You can dish it out, but can't take it.

HUH? I think your last post fairly established who can't take it. I called out the bad behavior. The response you gave was to accuse me of not being able to handle it and telling me to {bleep} off. (Well giving me the finger same difference.) Maybe when you're making a fist and sticking out that index fingers at others you look down and notice the majority of the fingers are pointing back at the true problem.

Well, THAT was interesting. Think I'll have to bookmark that page so that I can repost the link when I want to talk about progressives, or just to have it handy for reference so that I can look at it whenever I feel myself being tempted by "progressiveness"....

that was the "Up Your Alley Fair" held annually last week of July, sponsored by Miller Brewing

Could have linked the Folsom Street Fair, Nude Bike Ride, TransGender March, Slut Walk, .... so many to choose from in the Progressive Utopia

I linked to a video of the "hunky Jesus" Easter pageant in an earlier post. A "family" event for progressives.
