Returning to CRT

I've got a 21" Dell CRT thanks to the friend of a friend and both the cats and I like it a lot. I've looked at pretty much every flat screen monitor out there and the only one I would even consider is one of the Sony 19 or 21" models (if I exclude the beautiful Mac Monitors).

The problem I have with any of them is the fact that I just don't think they're good enough for gaming yet. I tend to play new games which pretty much push my 6600GT to the limit, and most LCD or TFT's simply cannot keep up.

For some things a TFT is perfectly adiquate for, but gaming and image editing beyond amatuer useage aren't them. For those things you'll be needing a CRT for a long time to come. I personally use a 17 ins Flatscreen CRT that will blow away any TFT yet produced and it cost less then £100...

My missus 17ins flatscreen CRT is the same, no TFT that I've seen will touch it for image quality.

I recently had a similar dilemma.

I wanted a new screen for my Pegasos.

Ended up going for a 2nd hand 19" Ilyama CRT. Cost me £40.
I use my Pegasos mainly Pro Station Audio and to get a similar display on TFT would have cost me about £250.

No brainer in the end.

except from the color issue, TFT/LCD is really ideal, especially if you use more than one computer in the same room. I got myself a laptop and now I use half the space I used with a normal computer+crt, now I have room for a scanner and a printer on one and the same desk. I use this:
