“I’ve just signed your death warrant,” Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina said as she announced Nassar’s sentence and delivered a searing rebuke of his years as an abuser.

Olympic Committee gives USA Gymnastics board six days to resign — or else

In the wake of the Larry Nassar scandal, the United States Olympic Committee has demanded that USA Gymnastics meet six conditions — including the resignation of its entire board by the end of next week — or else face decertification.

In a letter sent Thursday to the USAG board, USOC CEO Scott Blackmun outlined the demands for institutional reform.

“While the USOC encourages USAG to think and act broadly on reforming its culture, we also believe that reform must start with an entirely new board,” Blackmun wrote.

Do you think he did? I don't think anything can really come of it because there is no proof either way. So what to do? Personally i think no. If you read the details of the investigation you will see a lot of it doesn't add up.

‘Glee’ Star Found Dead After Child Pornography Conviction

With Hollywood spilling all it’s dirty little secrets lately, the scourge of pedophilia is beginning to be chipped away.

‘Glee’ star Mark Salling was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography last year. The star of the hugely popular musical comedy had up to 50,000 images of child pornography on his home computer. Salling was charged two counts of child pornography and as part of a plea deal agreed to pay $50,000 in restitution to each of the victims – presumably the ones from the photos.

Salling also agreed to serve 4-7 years with 20 years supervised released and he would be required to register as a sex offender.

According to TMZ the 36-year-old actor was found dead alongside a riverbed in Sunland, CA. Although details are limited, the police seem to be indicating his death was by suicide.

I didn't read the full interview but based on what i read i am going to side with Tarantino on this. While his choice of words is questionable i feel there is a big difference between a 13 year old and a 3 year old. This is statuary rape at most.

On 10 March 1977, Polanski, then aged 43, became embroiled in a sexual assault case involving 13-year-old Samantha Jane Gailey[10] (now Samantha Geimer).[11] A grand jury charged Polanski with five charges:

  2. perversion
  3. sodomy
  4. lewd and lascivious act upon a child under fourteen
  5. furnishing a controlled substance to a minor[9]
This ultimately led to Polanski's guilty plea to a different charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.[12]

He wasn't initially charged with statutory rape, he was charged with rape. It was only downgraded when he agreed to enter a plea bargain, before he obvious went on the lamb. Does the above sound consensual?

I didn't say it was ok. No adult should be having sex with a minor. But 13 is different to an actual child. 13 is closer to adulthood. But yeah, it kinda sucks.

A 13 year cannot consent to being drugged and sodomized. Neither can an adult.

OK. The details of this particular case also always bothered me. It was rape and he is a pedo, yet Hollywood to this day shields him.

In the 70s state laws varied even more than they do now, but AFAIK the age of consent was never 13 in any US state. On a broader subject of genuine "statutory rape" where both parties are genuinely consenting it can be more nuanced, especially as far back as the 70s, but that's not the case here.

New Hampshire. Minimum marriageable age for girls is 13. Think it requires parental consent. Almost certainly sure it's then legal to have sex with your wife. About half the states have no minimum age for marriage.

Without hitting Google, I'll take your word this is a blue law about NH. That needs to change. No minimum age other states? Yeah good luck, they won't give marriage license and will call the cops.

The British government has ordered Oxfam to hand over documents on staff that paid for sex, possibly with children, during recovery efforts in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake

Oxfam receives £300 million ($414 million) a year in British taxpayer funds and public donations. The report uncovered by the Times showed three men resigned and four others were fired “for gross misconduct after an inquiry into sexual exploitation, the downloading of pornography, bullying and intimidation.“

The 2011 report also concluded children may have been among those who were sexually, stating “It cannot be ruled out that any of the prostitutes were under-aged.”

British Labor MP Gavin Shuker said of the revelations, “In case you were wondering, teenage girls, in one of the poorest countries in the world, immediately following an earthquake don’t by any measure ‘choose’ prostitution.”

British culture secretary Matt Hancock, who overseas the charity, called the report “deeply shocking.”

“These allegations are deeply shocking and Oxfam must now provide the Charity Commission with all the evidence they hold of events that happened in Haiti as a matter of urgency,” he said.

“The reported historic behavior of senior aid workers is abhorrent and completely unacceptable. Charities must ensure that they have the highest standards of transparency and safeguarding procedures in place to protect vulnerable people and maintain the trust of the public.”
