Well I'm a crackpot so I voted accordingly.

however...

Digest this..

http://www.ufos-aliens.co.uk/cosmicrend.html

Even the report from the base commander of RAF Bentwaters is on there.

The commander also made an audio recording of the event.

Scapegoat,

Thanks for the link. I haven't heard / read this story in quite some time. Over here it is known as the "Rendlesham Incident" and on the surface does appear to have significantly more reliable information than Roswell could ever hope to have. I would like to see more (official) investigation into this particular issue but given the secrecy surrounding the event (both US and UK), I suspect it is far more likely that there was a classified project going on. Time will tell. I do admit to finding it a more interesting story then Roswell however.

So guys, what's your opinion?
My hope is that aliens haven't reached us. The historical record on this planet is that species tend to feast on or destroy other creatures. If that record extends to the galaxy or universe and there's aliens we're probably not meeting a friendly ET.. It at best the alien will be friendly only to subjegate us to their will.

Actually though my favorite story is from Douglas Adams where rich kids get spaceships and buzz planets w/o interstellar travel, landing in farmer fields, dressed in aluminum foil and making beeping sounds... Only to fly away laughing.

I love Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy!!!!!! What a classic quote from Ford. :D

Another interesting story about aliens visiting Earth is an old Twilight Zone episode (Small Talent for War). An alien ship lands on the UN building and informs the UN that they are "disappointed" with Earth's "small talent for war" and plans to destroy it. The UN begs for another chance and the alien agrees. In a short turn, the UN abolishes all weapons and signs a global peace treaty just as the alien returns to check on the status of things.

The UN proudly shows of the new treaty and the alien begins to laugh explaining that Earth was seeded by the aliens for the purpose of creating warriors for use by the aliens. They are disappointed that we (Earth) only have a "small talent for war" and that by disarming and signing the peace treaty, we are indeed a mistake that must be erased.

Classic Rod Serling! 8)

Warning Twilight Zone Spoiler ahead!

There's the classic episode 'To Serve Man' where they figured out, after the ship takes off with lots of people, that the book wasn't a guide to improve humanity but a guide to cook humanity.
