The Dead Celeb thread, 2019 edition

Something I wasn't aware of until I heard that she had died was that she was married to the man who voiced Mickey.
Perhaps a bit mawkishly sentimental of me but I found that rather charming.

I wasn't aware the voice of Minnie was the voice of Martin Prince, despite being a relatively big fan of the early ~dozen Simpsons seasons. I say relatively, because I don't collect memorabilia or even delve deep into the history behind the camera.

What a shame, another original Disney personality is gone and another original Simpsons character is gone.

Nick Buoniconti, Hall of Fame linebacker, dead at 78

MIAMI — Pro Football Hall of Fame middle linebacker Nick Buoniconti, an undersized overachiever who helped lead the Miami Dolphins to the NFL’s only perfect season, has died at the age of 78.

Bruce Bobbins, a spokesman for the Buoniconti family, said he died Tuesday in Bridgehampton, New York. A cause of death was not immediately known.

Buoniconti was bypassed in the NFL draft but went on to a 15-year career. He helped the Dolphins win back-to-back Super Bowls, including the 1972 team that finished 17-0.

Following retirement, Buoniconti and his son, Marc, worked to raise more than a half-billion dollars in the search for a cure for paralysis. The younger Buoniconti was paralyzed from the shoulders down making a tackle for The Citadel in 1985.

Marc Buoniconti said his father was his biggest hero.

“He could have been sitting on the beach sipping champagne for the rest of his life,” the younger Buoniconti said in 2017. “But what did he do? He went around and gave the rest of his life to help his son.”

He came out publicly a couple years back about his crippling cognitive issues due to severe CTEs in football. Really sad way for a football legend and a really great human being to go.

This one sucks. Awesome woman. Too young.

'Fastest Woman On Four Wheels' Jessi Combs Killed In Jet-Car Crash

Combs was a lot more than a very, very fast person; she was a skilled builder and fabricator, representing the American Welding Society, and even designing a line of women’s welding gear. Combs was on television frequently, appearing on Overhaulin’, All Girls Garage, and even served as a host of Mythbusters. Combs was an accomplished off-road racer as well, competing in the Baja 1000 and was the first woman to place at a King of Hammers event; in 2016 she had a 1st-place finish at the King of Hammers, earning her the nickname “Queen of Hammers.”

Jim Langer, center for Miami Dolphins’ Super Bowl teams, dies at 71

It's kind of interesting to mark the passage of lives as names we know check out - but I feel like the time is approaching that we will soon see more celebrities snuffing it that we have never heard of. For me, this is one of those because I was never into football - but at a certain point celebrities will be dying who became celebrities to a younger cohort long after the time we stopped caring about who that generation thinks is cool.

MERCYFUL FATE Bassist TIMI HANSEN Dies After Battle With Cancer

MERCYFUL FATE bassist Timi Hansen has died after a long battle with cancer. His death was confirmed by his former bandmate, MERCYFUL FATE singer King Diamond.

King wrote in a Facebook message earlier today: "I just found out that I lost one of my dearest friends, who has been fighting cancer for a long time, in such an incredibly brave way. He was not just my roommate on the early MERCYFUL FATE tours, but he was always my favorite bass player of all times. I was fortunate to have been able to visit him at his apartment with some other good friends, and we had a great afternoon that will never be forgotten.

"When I last talked to Timi on the phone on October 24th, I could understand that things had gotten tougher than they ever were, and yet he said 'we fight on.'

"I feel so so sad for his entire family, you have my absolute deepest sympathy.

"Rest in Peace my dear dear friend."
