It makes you feel good. It's meant to be sipped on, and it taste damn good. One of the best feelings you will ever experience. Euphoria with a hint of sedation.

its compared to LSD and pcp

It is in many ways considerably more powerful (and certainly more dangerous) than LSD or mushrooms. Like all psychedelics it can profoundly change you; unlike others, these changes are not necessarily under your control

but the euphoric effects are reduced the more you use it.
It's addicting

DXM Side Effects

DXM induces mild facial edema (swelling and buildup of fluid)

mania has been documented from regular use of DXM. In all recorded cases, mania went away when DXM use was discontinued.

with constant use, they developed regular, violent ideations, and would tend to respond in anger to any perceived threat. A few others have noticed a paranoia while using DXM regularly.
“…Be very careful in trying to restrain the tripper, since she or he may perceive this as a threat, and will probably be mostly immune to pain...the tripper, like a cornered animal, could beat the living shit out of you without thinking twice. (!!) …”

Sippit!

Media reports have been focused on the news that traces of THC were found in Trayvon Martin's system, but the fact that George Zimmerman was on drugs on the night of the shooting seems to have slipped through the cracks. A paramedic report states that, the 28-year-old was under the influence of the prescription drug Temazepam, or Restoril, used to treat insomnia and anxiety. Side effects of the drug include hallucinations and aggressiveness, according to News One.
These new findings are among the extensive amounts of evidence that prosecutors are using to build their case against Zimmerman. More than 150 documents, combed through by special prosecutorAngela Corey, before bringing second-degree murder charges against him, have been made public in the last week. Zimmerman's attorney, Mike O'Mara was also given copies of the evidence to help in his defense case.
Perhaps most damning of the mounds of evidence is a police report faulting Zimmerman for Martin's death, calling the incident "avoidable," and stating that he should have been charged with manslaughter for the shooting.

yes, he had trace THC in his system, the THC is irrelevant, as the only aggression it causes is to aggressively raid your refrigerator. Trayvon had switched to DMX as his drug abuse of choice

Temazepam is prescribed for sleep disorders, taken before bedtime. If he was "under the influence", he would have been asleep

There is a difference between taking at a prescribed level and taking at 1000 times above their therapeutic levels.

Angela Corey is incompetent

actually... that isn't true... in fact this whole thread is kind of moot if your claim is that trayvon was high on robitussin. firstly i haven't seen any toxicology report stating that. there are reports that zimmerman was in fact under the influence, which arguably you are once ur level has been reached... and guess what? aggressive behaviour and paranoid judgement calls are a long term side effect of the drug he was on.... you can argue with me until you are blue in the face about the severity levels of bad drug reactions; including extreme psychosis, that revolve around "prescribed use" of "lawful drugs" but i can assure you from life experience that the comparisons would drastically tilt in the favor of non pharmaceuticals... angela corey may be incompetent, i wouldn't know.... toxicology reports don't lie however, her assessment of what that means is more a question of the letter of the law and the spirit of it as well... kinda looks like what you're doing here is minimizing georges drug induced behaviour so you can beat up on the black feller... again... ;)

Sleeping drug is new big killer

However, leading toxicologist Dr John Oliver claimed Temazepam was one of the main causes of death and said the number of addicts taking the drug was likely to escalate. Dr Oliver told BBC's Frontline Scotland programme last night: 'Approximately a third of all of last year's drug deaths involved Temazepam. And of the actual deaths themselves, at least 20 per cent had Temazepam as a very significant contributor to the cause of death.' Dr Oliver said he wanted to see Temazepam banned. He added: 'Heroin is still the biggest killer, but if we can eliminate the Temazepam-related deaths, we can reduce the number of drug deaths by 20 per cent.'

Temazapam cited as the cause of more violence and murders. Public to be asked about drug ban

Last night's Government announcement came amid concern that the drug
makes abusers aggressive and led to 50 deaths last year in Glasgow
alone, and has been responsible for escalating violence and a series of
murders in Paisley.

Benzodiazepines tend to lose their sleep-promoting properties within 3–14 days of continuous use, and, in the treatment of anxiety, the committee found that there was little convincing evidence that benzodiazepines retains efficacy in the treatment of anxiety after 4 months of continuous use due to the development of tolerance.[42]
The committee found that the regular use of benzodiazepines causes the development of dependence characterized by tolerance to the therapeutic effects of benzodiazepines and the development of the benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome including symptoms such as anxiety, apprehension, tremors, insomnia, nausea, and vomiting upon cessation of benzodiazepine use. Withdrawal symptoms tend to develop within 24 hours upon cessation of short-acting benzodiazepines, and 3–10 days after cessation of longer-acting benzodiazepines. Withdrawal effects could occur after treatment, lasting only 2 weeks at therapeutic dose levels, however withdrawal effects tend to occur with habitual use beyond 2 weeks and are more likely the higher the dose. The withdrawal symptoms may appear to be similar to the original condition.[42]
The committee recommended that all benzodiazepine treatment be withdrawn gradually and recommended that benzodiazepine treatment be used only in carefully selected patients and that therapy be limited to short-term use only. It was noted in the review that alcohol can potentiate the central nervous system-depressant effects of benzodiazepines and should be avoided.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzodiazepine_dependence

The long-term effects of benzodiazepines include drug dependence as well as possible adverse effects on cognitive function, physical health, and mental health.[1] Some of the symptoms that may occur as a result of long-term use of benzodiazepines include nausea, headaches, dizziness, irritability, lethargy, insomnia, memory impairment, personality changes, aggression, depression, agoraphobia, anxiety, and panic attacks.[2][3][4] While benzodiazepines are highly effective in the short-term, physical dependence may develop within weeks of regular use. [5] Many of these adverse effects of long-term benzodiazepines use are reversible and show improvement in the three to six months after cessation.[6][7]
Other concerns about the long-term effects of benzodiazepines include drug seeking behavior, benzodiazepine abuse, tolerance, dependence and withdrawal.

dude... your boy was either high, coming down, or looking for drugs.... lol!! :D i could photocopy a bunch of crap out of the textbooks on the shelf or just keep googling... i'd give it up if i were you.... the obama dog thing works so well for you and i kinda miss it anyway...

actually... i don't have a facebook account... and i'm only barely smarter than a 6 yr old when it comes to using computers... when you get a link... go ahead and post it so i can talk about how that shit is bad too...

hahahahahhahaa! you omitted the fact that the other drug he was prescribed was METH... hahahaha!

The report notes that before the shooting, Zimmerman had been prescribed Adderall and Temazepam, medications that can cause side effects including agitation in a minority of patients.

Prolonged use

Prolonged high doses of amphetamines followed by an abrupt cessation can result in extreme fatigue, insomnia, irritability, and mental depression. Chronic abuse of amphetamines can result in the manifestation of amphetamine psychosis.[2]

Methylphenidate

Methylphenidate, better known by its trade name Ritalin, is a central nervous system stimulant with a similar mechanism of action as cocaine's,[18][19] and can also lead to psychosis from chronic abuse[20][21]. Although the safety profile of short-term methylphenidate therapy has been well-established, with short-term clinical trials revealing a very low incidence (0.01%) of methylphenidate-induced psychosis at therapeutic dose levels[22] , the specific effects of long-term use of methylphenidate, even at therapeutic doses, remain largely unknown.[23][24] A naturalistic study published in 1999 with an average follow up time of 21 months showed that 6 of 98 children and adolescents prescribed methylphenidate in an outpatient clinic developed psychotic symptoms at therapeutic dosages (the exception being a 17 year old on 80mg daily) , with most improving after drug cessation; however, the lack of a control groupmakes it impossible to attribute these effects to the medication.[25] Concerns have been raised that long-term therapy might cause drug dependence, paranoia, schizophrenia, and behavioral sensitization in a similar manner as that of other stimulant drugs.[26] Psychotic symptoms from methylphenidate can include, hearing voices, visual hallucinations, urges to harm oneself, severe anxiety, mania, grandiosity, paranoid delusions, confusion, increasedaggression, and irritability. Methylphenidate psychosis is unpredictable in whom it will occur, as family history of mental illness does not predict the incidence of stimulant toxicosis in children with ADHD.[citation needed]
Withdrawal symptoms of methylphenidate can include psychosis and depression.[27] Stimulant withdrawal or rebound reactions can occur and should be minimized in intensity, i.e. via a gradual tapering off of medication.[28][29][30] A very small study (19 subjects) of abrupt withdrawal from stimulants used at therapeutic doses for ADHD and chronic tic disorder suggests that withdrawal reactions are not typical. Nonetheless, withdrawal reactions may still occur in susceptible individuals.[31]

Abstract A 26-year-old woman under the influence of alcohol assaulted another person at a party in late November 2008. Afterward, she claimed that her drink was spiked with Ritalin, which would account for her bizarre behavior. Neither urine nor blood was sampled, because of the elapsed time after the incident. Hair was collected in late February 2009 and sent to our laboratory for methylphenidate testing. The hair strand was decontaminated twice using methylene chloride and then segmented. Each segment was cut into small pieces and about 30 mg was incubated in an ultrasonic bath for 3 h in buffer solution at pH 5.5 in the presence of 100 ng of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA)-d 5 used as internal standard (IS). Each mixture was neutralized with NaOH and extracted with hexane/ethyl acetate (90:10). After evaporation, the residue was reconstituted in 200 μl of acetonitrile/formate buffer (5:95). Each sample was subjected to liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS) with a gradient elution of acetonitrile and formate buffer. For both methylphenidate and MDMA-d 5, detection was performed with two product ions each (m/z 234 to 84 and 56 for methylphenidate; m/z 199 to 135 and 165 for IS). The method showed a linear response from 0.5 to 500 pg/mg with a limit of quantitation of 0.5 pg/mg. Hair collection was made 3 months after the incident, so it was decided that the hair be analyzed in three 4-cm segments. Methylphenidate was detected only in the proximal segment at 1.0 pg/mg, while the result was negative in the other two segments. These results support the suggestion of a single exposure to methylphenidate in the previous 4 months, which includes the time of the party.

from "one dose"... yikes! what are you trying to sell people? i get that you're an engineer and don't play a scientist for real... but didn't you sleep at a holiday express last night?

i am not prescribed any medication. i "choose" to be "addicted" to "marijauna" over "hydrocodones" which is what i was prescribed when i broke my back, i refused their drugs... mine work just fine... and for the record, yes... a good deal of drugs, even taken as they are prescribed lead to a whole rash of societal troubles... not the least of which, is death...
