Canada spied on Brazilian industry (because industrial espionage is all about stopping terrorism). Hey, no big deal. The Five-Eyes spy on everybody.

That's pretty much what Harper said.
The way it goes is the accuse others of doing things we call wrong, and deny that we do those things too, the when it turns out that we do those things we say - everybody does those things. Get over it. However, some people chose not to get over it and chose to make a stink about it and lift the covers. Imagine if everyone accepted the soothing words of our leaders that whatever they did was OK because that's what everyone does.
People murder, rape and steal and they always will. Get over it. Governments and business are corrupt and they always will be. Get over it. People get sick and die from preventable diseases, and they always will. Get over it. Elections are rigged and they always will be. Get over it. Governments spy on the citizns to prevent them organizing against the ruling classes, and they always will. Get over it.
Meanwhile, in other news, Snowden wins the Sam Adams award.
