I have talked to them and I know exactly what they think. There is a reason Cuban-Americans as a block vote Republican. They hate Castro and they hate Communism. No American Democrat wet dream will change their views.

There is the difference. You read Huffington Post and MSNBC.COM and think you know what Cuban-Americans think about living under Communism. I've had teachers, neighbors and coworkers who have told what they think. Don't believe everything you read.

actually... i regard huffpost with same respect as the enquirer... and the only program i watch on msnbc is morning joe... and i actually think joe scarborough is a more level headed version of your brand of politics... so these cuban ex pats... what would you say is their biggest complaint?

That's what you call a self selecting sample.

I know that a lot of people got upset when the government took their casinos away and having no places to gamble probably really hurt the Cubans - but what hurt them the most was the siege - what you call sanctions, I suppose, which is an act of war as it is designed to cripple a country. The Cubans are poor because America keeps them poor to teach them a lesson about trying to be independent of America. Their lives would be better without sanctions but it can't be allowed. I guess the only saving grace is that they get excellent state provided medical care.

and I HATE it when ANYone in politics mentions religion.
I try to be patient when it's a memorial or people end their speeches with 'god bless America' or some crap like that. But when they make laws allowing the religious to fu*ck over anyone who doesn't believe their fairy tales, yes, I get really pissed off

The last guy was bad, but Obama has taken it to a whole new level. Just because you want to stick your head in the sand doesn't make it go away. Have you forgot the NDAA, Guantanamo, non-prosecutions of historic white collar crimes, persecution of whistle blowers?

red, ive met cuban exiles too... and ur right about one thing... they are usually upset about the stifling dissent stuff... thank god in freedom loving america we have always allowed folks to meet in large groups to plot the overthrow of our government...

Like most of your guesses, that one was wrong also.

A man by the name of Carroll D. Wright head of the Massachusetts Bureau of the Statistics of Labor invented the method used to calculate unemployment for the state of Massachusetts.

He left that job to head up the new Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics in the 1880's and took his method with him. He knew his method of not counting people unless they had actually looked for work in the past four weeks was wrong, but as head of the new agency, he used it anyway, and it has been wrong ever since.
