I've discussion on this on Threads and twitter.
The Guardian have bailed from Twitter too but their explanation comes across as a bit sour grapesy to me. "Big bad Trump won so we're taking our ball and going home."
Is Twitter a far worse cesspit of bigotry now than it was before Musk took over? Without a doubt.
Is that,
as they claim, why the Guardian left? Nah, otherwise they would have left months, if not years ago. They're full of bollox in my opinion.
I go on Threads from time to time but still use Twitter most days as, despite the crackpots and bigots, it works better for me.
Never tried Bluesky or Mastodon and they don't really appeal as they seem to positioning themselves as "safe spaces for the left". I have little to no interest in such ostensibly boring forums. I do, perhaps weirdly, have accounts on a few "right-wing" ones, notably Gab and Truth Social (although I think the big Wotsit has barred me from that last one, despite never having posted
). I haven't been on either for a while but the last time I looked, they were both crackpot echo-chambers, full of Q-pish, Jesus, chem-trails and racism, often all in the same post. Of course, there's plenty of that on Twitter too but at least on Twitter I can find mundane, normal posts of interest amongst to vitriol. The other thing about Twitter is that a lot of the lefty nutcases are still on there too. Some of them are almost as mental as the q-nutters.
-EDIT-
Well, that didn't take very long!
Directly after I wrote this, I went to desktop Twitter and have been logged out and can't log back in with my preferred browser. The home page is in a weird redirect loop. It was working fine about an hour ago so feck knows what he's done now. It still works on Chrome and my 'phone but if I can't use the desktop version on Brave maybe I'll bail too.
