Darn Protesters

But not private jails because then they'd just be paying themselves public money to keep themselves locked up.

Well, it's cheaper but I can't sanction killings by the state. Mob justice, on the other hand ...
actually, the kind of jail I want those scum bastards to be in is the kind where they have to build homes for all the people they made homeless. I'd like to see them build Earthships...that would really make me smile. Force them to make a home that is completely or partially off the grid so that the homeowner can never be homeless again.

sure "mob justice" gives a certain momentary satisfaction, but what i really want is for those lazy thieving bastards to WORK hard for others. I want them to sweat. I don't care if they learn anything from this, but I am sick of them getting away with murder.
THAT, to me, would be real justice

Restorative justice is a great ideal and much preferable to the punishment system we currently have.
However, when you are dealing with t6he powerful it is often impractical, simply because you are dealing with the powerful. In a very pragmatic sense the only way to deal with powerful criminals is assassination, simply because they have sufficient resources to avoid and actions brought through the legal system, in fact, they can even resort to assassination themselves if a prosecutor is too persistent though if poorly executed is seen as bad form and can lose them favour with the other elites they need as allies. The poor have much less to lose and far fewer means to fight with so when denied recourse to the law system for long enough it becomes a practical option - as we have seen from history.

Crazy catchy slogan.
