Is cycle 24 stalling?

Warmest March in Minnesota in recording history.
Radio said hottest from MN to Boston

You also have to remember that up until the late 70s we were pumping significant oxides of sulphur into the atmosphere along with the CO2. This produced a strong cooling effect on the earth which seems to have masked a good portion of the warming.
Besides increasing the earth's albedo (reflecting more of the sun's energy back into space) the other major effect of So2 pollution was acid rain. In the 80s new coal fired power stations were required to reduce So2 output and in years subsequent to that plants (and cars and oil and gas producers) have emitted less and less sulphur into the atmosphere resulting in clearer air and more of the sun's energy reaching the ground and therefore being trapped by the increased CO2.
Several people have suggested that we can head of increasing temperature by seeding the atmosphere with sulphates but we been there and done that and there was a good reason why we stopped doing that. However, if we can't solve the CO2 problem we may have to go back to acid rain - only even more than before.

Same in Scotland. Record was was broken yesterday. Predicting the new record will be broken today.

The record for the hottest March day on record that was set two days ago was indeed broken again yesterday.

It's just been announced the the record set yesterday was broken again today.

My university class is about 80% foreign nationals. They probably think this is typical spring weather for Glasgow. They're in for an unpleasant surprise. Cold weather predicted for the weekend. :(

There are 4 days left in March. Assuming we reach the predicted temps on those 4 days then March 2010 will take the record away from Jan 2006 for the largest above average temperature month ever. It appears MN is trending 15 degrees hotter than average.
