Ready for the next Ice Age? Winter is coming.

Climate change: Oceans 'soaking up more heat than estimated'

The new study says the oceans have absorbed far more heat than previously thought

The world has seriously underestimated the amount of heat soaked up by our oceans over the past 25 years, researchers say.

Their study suggests that the seas have absorbed 60% more than previously thought.

The UK Met Office must have been co-opted by the Chinese and are now complicit in their plan to make US manufacturing non-competitive:
Weather: UK experiencing hotter days and 'tropical nights' - Met Office

The UK has experienced more weather extremes over the last 10 years when compared with previous decades, a Met Office report has said.
The hottest days have become almost 1C hotter, warm spells have increased, while the coldest days are not as cold.
The number of so-called tropical nights - when temperatures stay above 20C - is increasing.

The Met Office says these changes are consistent with warming driven by human activities.

The new study compares UK weather data from the period 1961-1990 with the 10 years between 2008 and 2017.

Somewhat alarmist reading of the study in my opinion but anyway...
Study Warns Of 5 Degree Celsius Warming By 2100

Where Does Your Country Rank?
The study, entitled “Warming assessment of the bottom-up Paris Agreement emissions pledges,” was published on November 16, 2018 in the journal Nature Communications. It claims that if China, Russia, and Canada continue with their halfhearted measures to rein in rising global temperatures, the world will be 5º C hotter by 2100 than it is today.

WRONG: ‘Alarming’ Climate Study On Heating Oceans Debunked & Retracted Due To Math Error

The error was on the very first page.

The journal has retracted the claim.

As it turns out, the study’s margin of error is much larger than initially realized (10-70%).

As for the evolving temperature of the ocean, the research lead in the study has since declared the margin of error “too big now to really weigh in.”

What a rip-off.

In reaction to the original report, the media sounded the alarm.

As a reminder, doomsday announcements were already past the point of goofy.

AGW nutters don't care about facts, just that they give the unwashed masses the feels.

But, but, muh Global Warming!

Live updates: Power outages top 300,000 as snow, ice storm slams eastern US

Central Park received 6 inches of snow from this event, making it the snowiest November day there in 136 years.

Thundersnow has been reported from areas west and north of Boston, where bands of heavy snow are streaming inland.

Winter is here.

Northeast Braces for ‘COLDEST THANKSGIVING’ in Recorded History

The northeastern United States is rapidly preparing for the “coldest Thanksgiving Day on record” as temperatures are poised to plunge to levels 15 to 25 degrees below the normal average.

According to weather.com, a giant “arctic air mass” will descend upon the region from Canada as early as Wednesday; sending temperatures down to numbers normally seen in early January.

“A strong area of high pressure from the Arctic Circle will descend southward across Canada and into the Northeast, sending temperatures plummeting toward levels more common on New Year’s Day, not Thanksgiving Day,” writes the website.

Historical records show New York City has had only three days since 1870 when the high-temperature did not exceed 30 degrees; with the coldest day of just 26 degrees dating back to November 28, 1901.

Record hot days and record cold days still happen, but the ratio of hot records to cold records is increasing.

Not hard to do when you are still coming out of the last mini-Ice Age. The Year Without a Summer was less than 200 years ago. Not even counting the OBVIOUS fakery in the numbers, everything points to a major downturn in temperatures. We should be praising upturns in temps. Another Year Without A Summer now? Would be fugly, but likely to happen.

Sure, let's prepare for the anomalies by making the rest of the days worse. And, as a certain class of people like to point out, climate scientists said in the 70s that we were heading into the next ice-age, and that looks like it should be so if it weren't for the rise in CO2. So that's something to be thankful for. However, if the temperature is already rising naturally then we should be extremely worried about the CO2 we are adding as it just makes a bad thing worse.
A year without a summer now would probably kill millions or perhaps billions of people - but a thousand years of drought is probably worse.

This certainly massages my confirmation bias:

Meanwhile...
The main greenhouse gas emissions driving climate change have all reached record levels, the UN’s meteorology experts have reported.

Carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide are now far above pre-industrial levels, with no sign of a reversal of the upward trend, a World Meteorological Organization report says.

“The last time the Earth experienced a comparable concentration of CO2 was 3-5m years ago, when the temperature was 2-3C warmer and sea level was 10-20 metres higher than now,” said the WMO secretary general, Petteri Taalas.

“The science is clear. Without rapid cuts in CO2 and other greenhouse gases, climate change will have increasingly destructive and irreversible impacts on life on Earth. The window of opportunity for action is almost closed.”

But hey, it's cold in New York in winter so that proves it's a Chinese hoax.

Slow Arctic freeze raises risk of polar bear extinction, say scientists
Record absence of ice after freak warm spells denies pregnant bears birthing dens and triggers ‘extirpation event’ warning

A record slow freeze of many regions of the Arctic this winter is making it harder for pregnant polar bears to find birthing dens.

The delayed formation of sea ice during autumn has worried biologists, who fear a first “extirpation event” – the local extinction of a species – may be approaching faster than forecast for the most affected populations.

The waters around Svalbard, an archipelago between Norway and the North Pole, have a little over half the average area of ice for this time of year. According to the Norwegian Ice Service, the 172,291 sq km (66,522 sq m) of ice on 14 November was the lowest for this time of year since records began in 1967.

The past four years have been the hottest on record, and the 20 warmest have occurred in the past 22 years.

The warming trend is unmistakeable and shows we are running out of time to tackle climate change, according to the World Meteorological Organization, which on Thursday published its provisional statement on the State of the Climate in 2018. The WMO warned that, on current trends, warming could reach 3C to 5C by the end of this century.

“The entire North polar ice cap may well be completely gone in 5 years.”

The National Climate Assessment Is a National Joke

The National Climate Assessment has been out nearly a week and the verdict is in: everyone, but everyone – apart from the Obama holdovers who wrote it and the gullible reporters at CNN, theNew York Times and CBS who bigged it up – has recognised it for what it is. A joke.
