Fortress Australia Lowers Drawbridge to the World: Reopens After Two-Year Isolation​

Australia’s borders reopened on Monday as tearful Aussies and visitors embraced at airports with some seeing loved ones for the first time since the country went into self-imposed isolation back in 2020.

Over 50 flights are scheduled to land in Australia in the next24-hours as Aussies around the world return to their families.

While Australians and some others were granted permission to return at the end of last year, this border opening allowed multiple other individuals to enter.

The state of Western Australia is however an exception and they will not be opening their borders until the 3rd of March and only to triple jabbed individuals, the BBC reports.

Dan Tehan, Australia’s Minister of Trade, called the arrival of visitors “wonderful, wonderful news for our tourism industry and the 660,000 people employed in it”.

Australia’s tough border policy has caused massive disruption to their economy, with Aussie businesses losing out on an estimated 9.5 million tourists who visit the land down under.

Six African countries – Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia – will be the first on the continent to receive the technology needed to produce their own mRNA vaccines from a scheme headed by the World Health Organization.

The groundbreaking project aims to assist low- and middle-income countries in manufacturing mRNA vaccines at scale and according to international standards, with the aim of ending much of the reliance of African countries on vaccine manufacturers outside the continent.

Researchers may have ID’ed first deer-to-human SARS-CoV-2 transmission​

One of the more disturbing aspects of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is its ability to readily hop between a variety of species, ranging from domesticated animals like cats and mink to wild deer. This creates a potential risk. While spreading in other animals, the virus can pick up mutations that make it look unfamiliar to the human immune system or evolve to cause a different collection of symptoms.
These risks, however, depend on the virus being able to move back to humans after evolving in a different host. And, so far, the only cases where that's known to have happened all involve people who have worked on mink farms. But a recent manuscript that is currently awaiting peer review indicates that Canadian health authorities have identified an instance in which a SARS-CoV-2 variant circulating in deer ended up back in a human patient.
 
Florida's Surgeon General Says Masks Don't Save Lives

One day after a video of Gov. DeSantis telling Hillsborough County high school students to take off their masks went viral, his newly-appointed Surgeon General is saying masks are not saving lives. Appearing with the governor in Panama City this morning, Dr. Joseph Ladapo said people are still holding on to the "illusion" about masks. "What saves lives, frankly, is freedom to speak and freedom to find truth," Ladapo said. ""What saves lives is immunity, early treatment, and being as healthy as you can."

Dr. Ladapo also criticized the CDC for what he called "shaky studies and shaky methods" for its data. "Finding 80% reductions in infections? Give me a break," Dr. Ladapo said.

"It's a lie and people need to un-believe it," Dr. Ladapo said. He did not mention vaccines in his remarks.

The post (shared from the dc_draino account) is apparently a reference to people who choose to wear masks to prevent from getting COVID-19. Jax has stood with her anti-vaccine beliefs and the belief is, per a report from the New York Post, is that she was let go by WWE in November for not getting vaccinated. Jax claimed that her vaccination status was never brought up as an issue.

Since her release, Jax has not been shy to express her true thoughts about “everyone” in WWE being “miserable” and in December, she said that Total Divs is 98 percent scripted.

Researchers examined records of nearly 40,000 visits of non-immunocompromised children and teens to emergency departments and urgent care centers (ED and UC), as well as about 1,700 hospitalizations, all of which occurred between April 9, 2021, and January 29, 2022.

NFL AGREES WITH NFLPA TO SACK ALL ITS COVID-19 PROTOCOLS​

In a memo sent to all 32 clubs Thursday, the NFL announced it had agreed with the NFL Players Association to lift all protocols it had imposed and amended since March of 2020.

The memo reads:
“Based on current encouraging trends regarding the prevalence and severity of COVID-19, the evolving guidance from the CDC, changes to state law and counsel of our respective experts, the NFL and NFLPA have agreed to suspend all aspects of the joint COVID-19 protocols, effective immediately.

“We’ll continue to prioritize the health and safety of players, coaches, and staff, as we have throughout the pandemic. Should there be a reason to reimpose aspects of the protocols or to take other measures, we will work closely with clubs, the NFLPA and our respective experts, and local and state and federal public health officials to continue to safeguard the health of the NFL community.

“Notwithstanding the suspension of the formal protocols, clubs are required to remain in compliance with state and local law and are free to continue reasonable measures to protect their staff and players.”

That means testing is over, regardless of vaccination status for players, coaches and staff.

That means masks are no longer required in the workplace, regardless of vaccination status.

That means signs within team facilities concerning social distancing and mask wearing can come down.

That means restrictions on weight room and lunch room capacity limits are lifted.

Since the start of the pandemic in 2020 not a single NFL game has been canceled, there is not a single documented case of COVID transmission on field, and not a single NFL player has died of or with COVID.
 

‘Huge Victory for Healthcare Workers’: Senate Passes Resolution to Block Biden’s CMS Vaccine Mandate​

The U.S. Senate on Wednesday passed a resolution, led by physician and GOP Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS), to block the Biden administration’s vaccine mandate for most healthcare workers.

The resolution, officially named S.J.Res. 32, passed 49-44 and will head to the House for a vote. More than 30 GOP senators co-sponsored the resolution, which was introduced under the Congressional Review Act. The Congressional Review Act is “a tool that Congress may use to overturn rules issued by federal agencies,” and allowed the minority party to fast-track the vote.
