Suddenly vaccine skepticism has gone mainstream.

I am not alone in feeling that long COVID is a profoundly hellish experience. Reports highlight that some people with long COVID have been dying by suicide because of their pain. It is possible COVID is neurotoxic, causing changes to the normal operation of the body’s nervous system, which might explain why many people like me have painful neurological problems. Almost all people with long COVID are experiencing symptoms similar to mononucleosis and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome.

A close friend of mine is a radiographer working in the biggest hospital in Scotland. She caught Covid pre vaccine. It absolutely floored her and she was off work for almost six months. She's since been back, then off, then back, then off, etc, etc. It's almost 2 years now and she's still fatigued, short of breath and can't smell properly. She says it gets a wee bit better every day but she doesn't feel like she'll ever be fully back to normal.

but she doesn't feel like she'll ever be fully back to normal.
I've long predicted (not that it was difficult) that since there will end up being millions of such persons dealing with long covid that this will be a major health issue for decades to come.
I'll had to check this but I believe I read somewhere that there are 100 million persons with long covid at the moment. I'm so sorry about your friend and others who living with this situation. There's so much to learn and society had better get serious about it.

In Jan 2020 I had flu-like symptoms that just seemed off. This was before I heard of the coof outside Whyzzat. I've had a nasty cough ever since. Long term lung damage is a side effect of the coof, but no medical testing has confirmed my problem.

Some Blue States to End Mask Mandates, Joining Biden’s Pivot Before Midterms

The Democrats’ pivot from “mandate culture” towards reaching a “new normal” comes as the midterms are approaching. Polling indicates the coronavirus is no longer the most urgent crisis for the Democrat regime to solve. The economy now outranks the coronavirus, and, specifically, the 40-year-high inflation is of greatest concern for Americans.

As Biden tries to shift to a new normal after more than a year as president, his polling numbers on the coronavirus have sunk. In January, a majority of Americans disapproved of his handling of the pandemic by a seven-point spread. In December, a majority approved by a six-point spread, a change of 13 points. Indeed, more Americans have died under Biden’s management of the pandemic than did under Donald Trump’s.

Overall, Biden’s average approval rating is hovering around the low 40s, his lowest mark at 33 percent.

Moderna’s omicron booster was only as good as current vaccine in monkey study

Boosting with an omicron-specific vaccine didn't offer more protection against omicron.

The study was led by researchers at the National Institutes of Health and posted on a preprint server last Friday. The study has not been peer-reviewed or published in a scientific journal. It also has all the limitations of an animal study and only involved eight monkeys. The study's findings will have to be verified in human trials, which are currently underway.
Still, there's good reason to think the finding will hold up.

Disappointing. I would have expected a tuned up version to do better. I'm not entirely surprised to be surprised though. Despite what pundits (and pharma sales teams) like to say about vaccine science being settled, it's much more of a dark art.

To gain approval in India, two Phase III clinical trials were conducted at 33 research centers with more than 3,000 participants, ages 18 to 80. The tests determined that Corbevax was safe and well tolerated. The company said the vaccine was more than 90 percent effective against the original strain of Covid and more than 80 percent effective against the delta variant.

“It’s a much cheaper process than the messenger RNA technology that Pfizer or Moderna used. We chose the most scalable, reproducible and stable method with a yeast cell that ferments and coded it to produce these proteins," Bottazzi said. "That means you don’t have any animal derivatives, everything is synthetic. In addition, anyone can replicate it and collaborate with us."

Strategies to immunize the world’s population against Covid are moving slowly: About 59 percent of the world’s population has received at least one dose of a vaccine, according to Our World in Data, an Oxford University initiative that analyzes government reports globally.

However, the most worrying figure is that less than 9 percent of residents in low-income countries have received a dose.

“We are looking for this concept of making transparent alliances, without patents, with partners who have the same outlook as we do, even if that is difficult and takes us a little longer," Bottazzi said. "Then Biological E, a large vaccine manufacturer in India, became interested, which promoted the development and we managed to get the emergency authorization in India. Now we are in talks with other countries such as Indonesia and Bangladesh."

What advantages does Corbevax offer, compared to other vaccines on the market?

The first thing is that its development is free, any government or company can contact us and we will give them the starter kit to start manufacturing. Our doses cost between $2 and $3, compared to the others. In recent trials, it’s over 80 percent effective with variants like beta and delta, and we’re looking into how it reacts with omicron.

Another important element is that these recombinant vaccines are very stable when produced, one can store them in normal refrigeration systems for a long time, unlike other drugs that expire quickly. We, for example, have had other vaccines stored for more than five years and they work perfectly.

If it's free, it will die. AstraZeneca was initially free, had a good start but the high profit vaccines dominated shortly after (perhaps because there are no kickbacks to be had from free things, or perhaps free products can't afford expensive lobbyists). AZ has now gone "for profit".

Lifted from an old school pal's Q-drenched FB page. He's also pushing the flavour of the month, "vaccine causes AIDS" trope.

that vaccine isn't for wealthy countries.
It's been approved of for India so far. I guess we'll see

Someone close to me has been deep diving the extreme deep stuff I won't touch. Seems one of the talking points is that this is a plan to reduce global population by 66% over the next 2 years. I wonder how long until one of them discovers the Georgia Guidestones?
  1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.

Our local Qanon meet up used to happen every Sunday at noon in a park near my house. I used to go and listen to the speakers for entertainment. There was a speaker last summer going on about the Guidestones and most of the crowd were lapping it up. Barking mad.

memba last year if someone said masks don't work what the unhinged reaction was in the Liberal Media and your liberal friends? Eyes would glaze over and the reciting of "Republicans want to kill people" would said? memba how Social Media would either censor you, or "fact check" you? Now even Liberal Media outlets are starting to admit what sentient beings have said all along. Here you have far left Bloomberg:

Mask Mandates Didn’t Make Much of a Difference Anyway

Many experts say only N95 respirators or similar devices are truly effective at stopping this virus — and some, such as the CIDRAP head Michael Osterholm, have been going public urging people to put less faith in cloth masks and adopt respirators such as N95s. He does not advocate universal N95 use in schools, however, where children are unlikely to be able to wear them consistently or correctly.

Most of the people who were only wearing masks because of the mandate were donning the less effective masks. Those concerned enough to get an N95 aren’t going to stop because it’s not required. Future policies should focus on helping people understand their risks and making sure everyone who wants a supply of N95 masks can get one.

Commie scum!

LEADER OF CALIFORNIA TEACHERS UNION INSISTS ON MASKING CHILDREN, ATTENDS RAMS GAME MASKLESS

Aguilar’s hypocrisy is just the latest example of “rules for thee, not for me” amongst the CA elite. LA mayor, Eric Garcetti, also attended the NFC Championship and insisted he was “holding his breath” when a photograph of his maskless mug at the game surfaced and went viral on social media.

California governor Gavin Newsom posed maskless at the same Rams game attended by Aguilar and Garcetti, but assured everyone he only did so briefly for the photo op.

On Sunday, roughly 70,000 strangers, including Garcetti and a who’s who of A-list celebrities, attended the Super Bowl maskless, while children throughout California returned to school in masks on Monday.

Predictably, after he was caught maskless, Aguilar refused to except any blame and blatantly lied about his surroundings.

It isn't "dying" in India.

CORBEVAX is already entering the real world. Last month, the vaccine received emergency use authorization from regulators in India. An Indian vaccine manufacturer called Biological E Ltd is now making the vaccine. The company says it is producing 100 million doses per month and has already sold 300 million doses to the Indian government.

"The real beauty of the CORBEVAX vaccine that Drs. Hotez and Bottazzi created is that intellectual property of this vaccine will be available to everybody," Keith Martin says. "So you can get manufacturers in Senegal, and South Africa and Latin America to be able to produce this particular vaccine."

if humanity survives a few decades this accomplishment will be seen as remarkable. Despite all the political bumbling and incompetence at the beginning of the pandemic by idiot politicians, there were enough competent and talented people who pushed for science.
