Obama will unilaterally attack Syria Thursday

Shields up. The Saudis as well as a bunch of other folk have raised their defence readiness. This may be simple prudence, it may mean that they think the US is going to act or it may mean that they want everyone to THINK that the US is going to act. Can't read too much into that but if I were part of the Royal Family I'd be thinking about booking some holiday time in the UK or US pretty quick.

Check out the jam the Al Saud family is in. Pretty much all of their wealth is invested in US dollars, but the oil they pump that props up the US dollar is running out. To preserve their wealth the Saudis need the US to grab Iran's oil almost as much as the US needs to do it.

Killing people to save their lives - the humanitarian bombers are back. We can bomb Assad because we bombed Kosovo, right? But bombing Kosovo was also illegal.

American hawk Edward Luttwak argued recently in the New York Times that the American strategy should be to ensure, through carefully calibrated military intervention, that the Syrian civil war never ends.
Sounds humanitarian.

Iran. Military spending. Syria. China. Afghanistan. The world is a complicated place, and policymakers have to keep on their toes to know what’s going on. To that end, Third Way has put together a recess briefing book to provide you with a general framework for the most pressing national security issues - See more at: http://www.thirdway.org/publications/730#sthash.e3J3Pq3E.dpuf

Assuming a special session isn't called the US Congress will return from vacation on Sept 9th. So a Monday. If they debate for a day, it shouldn't take more than that, and we know the military's ready - again I don't see this on a Thursday?

Maybe this is one time that Obama licking his finger and sticking it in the air is a good thing?

In the least what it shows is Obama is in a weak position on Syria. Now we can argue if it's overall or just Syria.

News is trickling out that it appears the UK may have sold Syria nerve gas about 10 months ago. Seriously if we don't want people to use WMDs perhaps we shouldn't market them. It'd be a start as they'd have to manufacture them, themselves.

Just pre-cursors. The Syrians had to make their Sarin just like Al-Nusra had to make their first Sarin back in May.
