it's only a few assholes who love violence. somewhere i posted a link to pics of people in that area with signs expressing sorrow over the death of the ambassador whom they respected.

as my nephew pointed out (to me) the main "News" is not showing that at all.

It's just not exciting unless something is blowing up. people walking around peacefully and in mourning just ain't juicy
 
my point is that all religions preach the word of violence towards the nonbeliever but in our country, we don't allow them to practice that part of their faith... guess we're religiously not as free as the muslim world...

Agreed on all points, it was interesting how the producer was claiming the 50mil figure having come from Jewish backers initially. Its like his whole point was to stir up crap from the get go. From what I've read so far it looks like it was made by a fringe extreme right Christian group looking to kick off a religious war along the lines of the one the rapture ready crowd are waiting for. Given the whole non existent company angle coupled with lying to and overdubbing the actors, I have no trouble believing that whoever backed it were duped as well. If 50mil was raised I'm guessing a huge proportion of it ended up in the producer + friends back pockets. From what I've seen of the film a couple of handy cams and a few bucks of blue fabric were all that were used on this.
 
I have to find and grab a frame of the really awful green/blue screen composite where they DON'T ADD ANY SHADOWS. yes, THAT is what offends me the most!

I really wanted to punch the director in his stupid nose over THAT


and, btw, no one should "blame" the actors. aside from being awful, if they were being paid they have every reason to work in anything no matter how terrible. Plus, it's the director who is to blame for not only bad acting but the meaning and tone of any film.

I doubt they spent 50k on it LOL, lots of poorly done blue screen, and each mention of Muhammad is over dubbed, ... very poorly

The impact of the film is the story. Each scene depicted actually is in the Quran or Haddith

Abu Bakr marrying his 6 year old daughter Aisha to Muhammad is one scene

Aisha was Muhammad's only virgin wife, therefore Muslims believe Aisha was divinely intended for him. Aisha is described as Muhammad's most beloved wife in the Quran.

I managed to watch only 10 seconds, and I was appalled at the horrible miking. It was full of reverb and echo. I'd say torching the embassy was warranted on that alone! I just wish people would get this worked up over the next Ben Affleck movie!

I don't think I'd 'torching the embassy' but I sure would send the word out to NEVER work for that jackass 'director'

and the other thing that pisses me off royally is that I know people who have been trying for years to get financing for REAL art - scripts that would make excellent films. And they can't get a fu*cking dime.
but this asshole gets money.

if he shows his face in public 1000's of artists are going to be kicking his butt

between the zionists and the evangelicals, both faiths have a real crisis on their hands. on the one hand they can shun the fascist dictates of their respective religions and turn their backs on a thousand years of church doctrine, or they can mind their public p's and q's and hope people get over their attraction to reality and continue to fill the old coffers...

Nice thought, but it's been tried before - the Turkish empire attempted early on to wipe out the Wahabiist sects of Islam whom they viewed as completely backwards nutballs who were a constant source of trouble.

They failed. The Wahabiists not only survived, but garnered support within the general population on the basis of their being victims... Within a handful of generations they were the political force within Islam. Their influence remains to this day.

Ideas are bulletproof.

But looking at the point seriously, as desirable as it might appear at first to remove obstacles from your given ideology (regardless of where you stand on whatever issue) history is replete with examples of this happening and it turn out bad.

The example of the Turkish Empire was a pretty good one, though keeping levels of fundamentalism in check are a generally good idea, the best way to combat it is with education and by maintaining a stable economy.

When you get situations where an economy goes completely out of balance, you risk the same thing happening with such an exodus creating a similar situation as the one that came about after the french revolution- the terror, whereby those who were deemed not supportive enough to the new regime were killed. As much as the revolution was about the grossly disjointed economic and civic system in France, what directed it was fundamentalism, what caused the terror was fundamentalism left unchecked.

As I have said many times when talking about the Libertarian ideology's shortcomings: It fails on the simple fact that the poor will eat the rich in order to survive.

It's the story, not the quality of the production

For example one of the scenes in the trailer is:

Muhammad's marriage to his adopted son's former wife, Zaynab bint Jash. Zaynab had married Zayd, the freed slave of Muhammad's first wife, Khadijah, whom Muhammad adopted as his son. Muhammad had ventured to see his adopted son, Zayd, at his house. Upon arriving, he found Zaynab unveiled and was enamored by her beauty. As he departed, Muhammad made some comments which she heard and, when her husband returned, told him what had transpired. After Zayd heard that Muhammad had made some comments about his wife's beauty, he went to Muhammad his adoptive fatherand told him that he would divorce her so he could marry her if this is what Muhammad desired. Muhammad refused and encouraged his adopted son to remain with his wife. Subsequently, Zayd divorced his wife and then Muhammad was commanded by Allah to then marry Zaynab, his adopted son's divorcee.

The Quran refers to this marriage in the following passage:​
When thou saidst to him whom God had blessed and thou hadst favoured, 'Keep thy wife to thyself, and fear God,' and thou wast CONCEALING WITHIN THYSELF what God should reveal, FEARING OTHER MEN; and God has better right for thee to fear Him. So when Zaid had accomplished what he would of her, THEN WE GAVE HER IN MARRIAGE TO THEE, so that there should not be any fault in the believers, touching the wives of their adopted sons, when they have accomplished what they would of them; and God's commandment must be performed. S. 33:37​

In summary:​
  1. Allah caused Muhammad to desire a married woman, his adopted son's wife.
  2. The reason why Allah did this was to show others that it was permissible for them to marry their adopted sons' former wives.
  3. Later Allah forbids the adoption of children and does not allow any one to be called the child of someone other than his/her biological father.
  4. Therefore, Muhammad's marriage to Zaynab was unnecessary since Muslims have no chance of ever marrying the former wives of their adopted children, seeing that there is no more adoption in Islam!
  5. Muslims believe that Allah knows all things, which means that he knew beforehand that he was going to abolish the practice of adoption.
